JOIN US FOR TWO SINGING WORKSHOPS!

Berwick Arts Choir is delighted to offer you the opportunity to take part in two wonderful singing workshops this summer - we would love you to join us!

The first workshop will be exploring the classics of English Cathedral music, and the second the Glories of Italy!

English Cathedral Classics

Our workshops will both be led by Gary Griffiths, who sang with York Minster choir for 20 years, performing both in the glorious Minster and extensively on tour in Europe and the USA. Gary has also trained and directed choirs for performances worldwide.

On 5th July 2025 Gary will lead us in a day of beautiful music, from the frankly miraculous Mass by William Byrd to the ecstatic and joyful ‘O Thou the Central Orb’ by Charles Wood, and pieces by Mozart and Stanford.

This workshop is a great opportunity for anyone who sings in a choir, both to expand your technique and perform this particularly beautiful repertoire, but is open to all singing enthusiasts! So whether you are a seasoned chorister or just love to sing we’d love to see you.

In August he will lead us into the vibrant world of Renaissance and Baroque Italy - the soaring sacred music of Palestrina, the passion and colour of Monteverdi’s madrigals, and the sparkling rhythms of Vivaldi. Our journey will also include delightful secular songs that capture the spirit of Italian love, laughter, and springtime. Whether you’re an experienced singer or simply love to sing, this is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in some of the most beautiful and expressive music ever written. Let the sounds of Italy inspire your voice!

At both these workshops you can expect a friendly encouraging and dynamic atmosphere with great music at the heart of it.

Tea/coffee will be provided but please bring your own lunch (along with your voice, your energy and your enthusiasm!)
