Berwick Arts Choir brought their 2022/23 season to a glorious close in a concert featuring Puccini's beautiful Messa di Gloria and a selection of opera choruses, finishing with The Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni.
We were fortunate to be joined by friends from the Abbey Consort and to be accompanied by our accomplished fellow musicians from the Berwick Arts Orchestra. Our young soloists for the evening, starting out on their professional careers, did us proud. The choir would like to take this opportunity to thank Berwick Town Council and the Hadrian and Joicey Trusts for their generous financial support for this concert'.
With an audience of over one hundred, this was a fitting Farewell and Thank You to our Musical Director, Kate Fish who has retired after thirteen years with the choir. As was said at the concert, music is for sharing, and we are grateful to Kate for sharing her love of music with us and the wider community and for supporting the choir and getting us singing again after the covid pandemic. So once again, Thank You Kate.
The music goes on though, and choir rehearsals resume on Thursday 14th September 2023 at Spittal Community Centre as the choir prepares for its next concert under the baton of Marion Scammell. In the meantime we would like to thank Kate and the Berwick community for their support and sharing their love of music with us.
